The
EventScope Project
Title: Lead
Designer
Employer: Platform Digital [link]
Date: Summer 2004 to Summer 2006
I served
as lead designer of Platform Digital, a small company
that develops software and content for public telepresence.
Platform Digital's main product, the freely downloadable
EventScope software, brings 3D, interactive representations
of real places being explored by NASA robots (Mars,
the Chilean Atacama Desert, etc.) to the public.

I collaborated
with the director of the project and the main educator
on the team to bring a greater sense of interactivity
to the modules that the team produced. In addition,
I directed the education and public outreach effort
for two robotics missions to the Atacama Desert. This
involved designing a strategy for reaching the public
through museums, websites, and the EventScope tool itself.

As
Lead Designer on this project, I...
- ...developed
educational, 3D, interactive modules.
- ...have
shaped the education and public outreach strategy
for the Life
in the Atacama 2004 and 2005 robotic astrobiology
missions.
- ...collaborated
with museums on exhibits utilizing EventScope technology.
- ...developed
and refined user interface designs.
- ...contributed
ideas and writing to funding proposals.
- ...designed,
developed, and maintained websites for the project,
the missions, and the company.
